Really a 3.5. This is a surprisingly nice neighborhood park. Even better when you get the history. It is a converted train yard. You can look closely and see where the wheelhouse turns were. Situated at the juncture of the Missouri and Platte River, this town was once a prominent port of commerce. Less so now, it will eventually become a thriving bedroom community as Omaha continues to blossom. Anyway, the park sports 4-5 ball diamonds, room for 3-4- soccer fields, a huge playscape, and a mile-long hiking trail. Horse shoe pits, too. Drawbacks, the playscape used recycled tire rubber, and there is no dog park.
Beautiful park with fun playground equipment. The ground material around the equipment is made of ground up tires so it is nice and soft to land on.
Huge play areas! Fenced ball diamonds, horse shoes, soccer field, picnicking, walking, running, Children's swings & climbing area. Family Fun.
Rhylander Park is a beautiful multi-purpose park smack dab in the middle of Plattsmouth. While reading some of the history about the park, I was alerted to the EPA notification of lead in the soil. The EPA recommends young kids, younger than 6, do no play in the park, and all clothes should be washed, separately, after playing in the park. This lead issue is due to contamination from the railroad roundhouse that sat near the gazebo from 1880 - 1960ish.
Nice park for the kids. Not enough shady spots, so be aware of that.
